  1. Keep ISO setting between 800 (on a snowy sunny day) and 2000-3000 on normal lighting. It’s like a horsepower setting, the higher you go, the more options you have.

  2. Don’t just set your camera on auto. You are smarter than your camera, eventually!

  3. When shooting portraits with a scenic background, set your camera on “AV” priority. Then you can raise the f-stop between f11 and f18 to get a deeper depth of field (in focused area). Be sure to always focus on the closet object that you want in the photo.

  4. Set ” TV” priority when shooting moving objects, from 1/500 up to 1/1650 for fast moving objects like songbirds.

  5. Always be looking in the camera viewfinder to see how your pics are turning out!

  6. Once you load the pics on your computer, hit the properties tab and see what your settings were on your pics. This will help you find out why some turned out awesome and others not so much!
